AT&T WIRELESS CUSTOMERS who crowd the airwaves by watching video on their devices will be put on tighter leashes according to an AT&T executive. The cellular carrier has had trouble keeping up with it's users wireless data usage, leading to dropped connections and long waits for users trying to run programs on their devices. In addition to upgrading its network, it will also plans to give high-bandwidth users incentives to "reduce or modify their usage."
It was not clearly stated how or when the carrier would change its policies, but some form of usage-based pricing for data is inevitable. Currently , AT&T doesn't limit data usage for smart phones. It also is not a simple process for subscribers to know how much data they're consuming. |
