NETFLIX HAS INCREASED MONTHLY RATES by adding a $1-per-month fee for access to its Blu-ray library. The notice of the increase was sent out in an email to Netflix susbscribers on Wednesday morning. The fee increase will be automatically tacked onto to the accounts of Blu-ray subscribers, beginning on or after November 5th. Users who don't want to pay the extra $1 a month can remove Blu-ray access from their account via the Netflix site.
"As you may know, Blu-ray movies are more expensive than standard definition movies," the email said. "As a result, we're going to start charging $1 a month (plus applicable taxes), in addition to your monthly membership charge, for monthly access to Blu-ray movies."
Netflix made the announcement to Netflix subscribers through a company blog post. "We have more than 800 Blu-ray titles, and growing, for you to enjoy as part of your Netflix subscription," Teitz wrote. "We think you'll agree, a $1 increase in your monthly subscription is pretty modest for you to enjoy this compelling format." |
