INTEL HAS KNOCKED OFF its first discrete graphics processor even before it gained a firm release date according to sources.  Intel stated that the Larrabee silicon and software development are behind where they had hoped it to be at this point in the project.   The first Larrabee product will not be launched as a standalone discrete graphics product, but rather be used as a software development platform for internal and external use.

Larrabee was based on an array of multiple x86 core processors and was a direct competitor to Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices' ATI graphics processors. The first product based on Larrabee was supposed to target the PC graphics market, and was expected to hit the market as early as 2009.
