WORD AROUND TOWN is that Samsung is looking into aquiring rival SanDisk. Consumer electronics, Samsung, has confirmed that it is exploring "various opportunities" with SanDisk, but said that no decisions have been made yet. Samsung reportedly is taking a look at SanDisk as a means to reduce its NAND flash memory costs, given that it pays the chipmaker roughly $354 million in annual licensing fees. Currently Samsung is the world's top NAND memory supplier, while SanDisk is the top supplier of NAND based memory cards. More Information can be found here. |
