FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jun 15, 2010 - Taking a giant leap forward in Wi-Fi networking technology, D-Link today announced it is now shipping its first 802.11n Wi-Fi router with 3x3 MIMO technology. The router provides better, more consistent coverage and uses three distinct data streams in a multiple-input and multiple-output smart antenna configuration to enable extremely fast data transfer rates. While most routers on consumer shelves today operate at 300Mbps or less, this router boasts speeds up to 450Mbps*.

The D-Link® Xtreme N® 450 Gigabit Router (DIR-665) is the industry's first wireless router to receive Connect with Intel Centrino Ultimate-N certification. The rigorous testing for Intel Centrino compatibility assures faster and wider wireless connectivity. The DIR-655 utilizes the power of HD Fuel® to play movies and games with superior technology over competing routers. It is also D-Link's first router to pass Wi-Fi® Multi-stream N certification.

"Featuring Intel Centrino compatibility, the DIR-665 is the next evolution in Wi-Fi performance technology," says Herman Chang, product line management director for D-Link. "Wi-Fi users will enjoy smoother HD video streaming, VoIP calls, quicker gaming response, and faster file transfers at exceptional distance. We are proud to be able to deliver the next level of speed and performance that our customers demand for their home and business networks."

"Intel has worked closely with D-Link and Marvell to test interoperability with Intel's next generation of wireless adapters. When paired with our new Intel Ultimate-N Wi-Fi Link 6300 multi-stream 802.11n adapter, the new wireless router from D-Link provides outstanding throughput and performance" said Alexander Quach, Intel's Director of Wireless Marketing. "The D-link DIR-665 router meets our new Ultimate-N tier of Connect with Intel Centrino interoperability, offering the performance required for data intensive applications such as streaming rich media throughout your home."

The router offers both wide area and local area network (WAN/LAN) Gigabit ports, SharePort™ for printer sharing capability, selectable dual band (2.4 or 5 GHz) performance, three antennas and D-Link Green™ technology, which saves power through Wi-Fi scheduling and innovative, eco-friendly port activity and cable detection techniques.

Pricing and Availability

The D-Link Xtreme N 450 Gigabit Router is initially available at Fry's Home Electronics. Manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the DIR-665 is $229.99.
