APPLE HAS DECIDED AGAINST deploying Intel's Montevina from the next version of the MacBook. It was decided that Intel's mobile Centrino chipsets have been good so far, but Montevina's graphics chipsets are lacking. Although, Apple Insider thinks the fruit-themed toymaker might have hatched a deal with AMD or Via for the new chipsets we learned from an insider at AMD that the new chip is being co-developed with AMD engineers.
The rumormill also has it that the new MacBooks will sport a new trackpad. The new trackpads will supposedly be multi-touch, and support gesture inputs, both of which sound entirely plausible. The redesigned exterior is rumored to be fashioned out of a single sheet of aluminum, which should significantly cut down on weight.
