MICROSOFT HAS JUST ANNOUNCED that just two weeks after its release, the Office 2010 beta has been downloaded 1 million times. That's more than any other version of Office has gotten in the same period of time, Microsoft said in a blog post. But that's not surprising, considering how much Internet use has grown in the past three years since Office 2007 hit beta.
Microsoft released the Office 2010 product line to beta on Nov. 18 during the Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles. Since then, Microsoft has announced the Office 2010 general release will come in June 2010. This week, Microsoft also started its first Office 2010 sales promotion. Business customers can buy an Office 2007 Open License now for a 20 percent discount, then upgrade to 2010 through Software Assurance when it's released. |
